Drug testing rules in California are significantly different than in other states. This is due, in large part, to the fact that California has a right to privacy written into its state Constitution. In the second part of her "Sex, Drugs and Rock 'n Roll" series, Host Helene Wasserman of Littler Mendelson, P.C. will be addressing the circumstances under which California employers are permitted to drug test their applicants and employees. Also addressed will be the current status of the law in California regarding the medicinal use of marijuana, and how that impacts employers' rights to terminate or refuse to hire employees who are using medical marijuana. Please note - the third in this series, "Rock 'n Roll," regarding how to protect and preserve your workplace in cases of natural disaster, will be recorded and posted later in July. But don't be concerned, there will be other helpcasts posted between now and then!
